You are trying to add securities to a single mutual fund account, which can contain only a single security. You can change the account to a brokerage (regular) investment account, which can contain more than one security.
To change a single mutual fund account into a brokerage investment account:
- Choose Tools menu > Account List.
- Click the Edit button next to the investment account you'd like to change.
- In the field next to Single mutual fund account, change Yes to No.
Caution
You can change a single mutual fund account into a brokerage account, but once you change it, you can't change it back if it contains more than one security or a cash balance.
